Piano Courses
Teaching Philosophy
I have been teaching for almost fifteen years. When I was a new teacher, I spent my first few years in the studio noticing so many beginner piano students struggle through tutor books with minimal emphasis on developing playing technique. Seeing so many students come to my studio for tuition playing with tension and poor bodily awareness, I started looking deeper into healthy beginner technique.
I have a "whole body" approach to learning the piano and demonstrate through hands-on techniques, allowing students to develop their kinaesthetic awareness of the muscles, joints and movements required for playing the piano.
I also use a Sound Before Symbol approach to music tuition. My emphasis is to unlock a student's musical creativity and aural awareness with healthy playing technique before introducing written notation.
